伏見稲荷大社~Fushimi Inari-taisha~

Because Mike loves foxes, we went to the head shrine of Inari, where the messengers are pure white foxes. Pictured to the left are numerous gates one after another, donated by businesses to Inari, the patron of business and worldly prosperity. I actually saw these gates being alluded to when I was living in New York, when Christo and Jeanne-Claude installed "The Gates" in Central Park.

They look pretty in the photo, but I dunno, they're not that impressive on site. I guess they're just a bit too gaudy.
